Search engines for TV Channels in future?

With the number of television channels growing every day, a thought comes to my mind whether there will be a search engine for television channels in the future. Imagine you are visiting another country where there are a thousand channels on air and they are telecasting in various local languages - how will you find out which channel is about what? It will be impossible to surf through one thousand (or even more!) channels to find out what you need!

As far as I know there are many countries who do not categorize channels based on their subject matter or theme. It is impossible to figure out seeing a name whether it is a news channel or entertainment or sports.

Won't you then feel the need of Google's presence in such a scenario?

And if there comes a day, maybe after 20 years, if there are ten thousand channels, it is surely going to drive people mad. Everyone will shout for a search engine in television world. What follows next, TV Search Engine Optimization? Will there be a competition of SEO in TV searching as well?

My take: Why Not? Think about that day when you & I never thought of possessing our own domain & web hosting! Suppose, about 50 years from now, maybe people will possess their own TV channels! What's so impossible in it? The rate at which technology is traveling fast, a day may come when you will have a Channel-YOURNAME! Today you write your content, tomorrow you'll telecast it.

With YouTube, Vimeo, DailyMotion - people already have their own video sharing channels in place. This is going to develop more in the future. People will soon be telecasting their own citizen journalism reporting via advanced gadgets to further developed versions of Twitter!

Are the television channels owned by people too far away after this?
