Did you ever contribute to Wikipedia?

Do you have any idea how much pageviews were recorded for the Wikipedia main page last month alone, i.e., December 2010? The Wikipedia Main_Page has been viewed 155,604,382 times! That's something you and I can never dream of even in our biggest fantasy dreams. Roughly 5,019,496 pageviews per day. The Wikipedia WikiLeaks page has been viewed 5,968,763 times in December 2010, that's 192,540 pageviews per day.

Ok, my post is not about discussing Wikipedia visitor statistics. I was only trying to draw your attention to the huge volume of web traffic which visits Wikipedia every day, every month round the year, to gather info. Who compiles these info? How do we find the most necessary info there?

It is all possible because a large group of people from many countries across the globe contribute towards it. Today, it is hard to find out a visitor who has never visited any page in Wikipedia.

The fact that Wikipedia is of enormous help to countless number of people is splendid. But a question also remains - how many of us actually contribute back to Wikipedia? If we don't, how long are we going to depend upon others for getting these excellent info whenever we need it?

If you haven't already started to think about this, it is high time each one of you should. You may ask about me, yes, I do contribute. If you haven't started off, don't wait, contribute as much or as little as you can.
